Just to say that these are now posted on Student Central. I could post them here but this seems so much more a sociable forum - I see that you're generating quite some discussion about the degree shows... but that not everyone by a long way is involved. Perhaps they're more involved offline i.e. they come to meetings?
And yes, just to pick up on something Gemma said about IP discussions: I do get a bit frustrated at the format which typically tends to become rambling. Of course, one way to avoid this - as I've long wanted to do - is to evolve a set of criteria by which we approach CFAP work. For me, these are often ridiculously naturalised and un-transparent i.e. you're supposed to 'know' how to start a discussion and / or what is appropriate to talk about.
I think also, if you feel that a different format would be useful e.g. small groups then you need to propose it. Just because tutors might not be sympathetic doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. As I'm sure you realize...
Oh, and one more thing, picking up on something Mark said - I really don't think CFAP (whoever that is) encourages you to be individualistic about your work. Rather, these are the conditions of production that prevail and are difficult to contest. But being 'critical' of these is important. Very important. And I also think there's a huge difference between the 2nd year show which, for reasons I don't understand, is always heavily 'themed' - indeed, it's lead by a single and often overarching idea which requires you to make work especially for it, often - and the 3rd year show, which encourages a very different approach - what I would like to describe as the 'curation' of difference in the service of a community (you, the year group).
Rant over.
