I say moments rather than minutes as there wasn't a great deal discussed and it wasn't a very well attended meeting. It was a nice chat though!
- Most discussion centred around the white cube vs. black cube debate. It seems that those attending the meetings agree largely that the larger of our studio rooms should be kept open plan, without covering the windows and the other large room should be turned into a screening room for video work and made comfortable, to encourage people to stop off there and watch a few. The two smaller rooms are then left as potential installation spaces. [Grey cubes?]
- We need more people to attend these meetings on Mondays, so we can commit to any plans we made, knowing we're not acting against the wishes of some of the group. Does anyone have dificulty with making it in at 1pm on Mondays?
- Within a couple of weeks of next term we think it would be a good idea for everyone to give a proposal for what they'd like to show in the degree show. It doesn't have to be too specific, but getting an idea of what we are showing is an obvious first step in being able to curate the work effectively.
- Lets try and finish the work for the degree show before we start putting it up. That way we're fine tuning the space rather than the work. (Will mentioned a lot of people last year were finishing pieces right up to the last minute and we'd really like to avoid this.)
- The Floor. We want to buff and wax it. Ugly floor=Ugly space.
- Starting early:- we can identify problems with the space (ie. Stains, dodgy bits of wall, holes, ugly wires from the ceiling) and fix them long before we have to clear everyone out of the space to turn it into a gallery.
- Then we had a bit of a chat about making notes and how useful it is, and various other aspects of studying for dissertation writing.
Ok. That's about it.
